I had the opportunity of a life time to view the exhibit "The Golden Age of Couture" at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. According to my teacher, this was the only stop this exhibit made in the entire U.S.! I was so amazed to see all of the beautiful garments that women of wealth wore in Paris and London during the 1974-1957. During this time frame many influential designers were creating masterpieces that would go in fashion history forever. Even though the styles were created decades ago, I could see the influence in modern fashion, as well as influence from from the 20s and 30s.

Besides the gorgeous dresses, suits, and coats, the exhibit also showcased accessories, jewelry, even authentic perfume bottles. I was able to connect with the designers because we saw original garment sketches and fabric samples. There was even photography from the time period with models wearing the clothing that was displayed. It was an inspiring experience.
